North of England classic and pre-war automobile club car display Bedes world 02.06.13

Austin

Spotted this while driving to work

On Sunday 2 June we are also thrilled to be joined by NECPWA (The Tyneside and Durham branches of the North of England classic and pre-war automobile club), who will be displaying a fantastic selection of cars, where you can look forward to seeing anything from a Bentley or a Rolls Royce to a Ford Escort.
John Nicholson, NECPWA Treasurer commented "It's always nice to be able to show our cars to the general public in such an ideal setting, which the village certainly was, and hear the comments from the visitors of "my dad had one of them", we went on honeymoon in a car like that" and many more”.

We will also be hosting a 'Dad's Army' inspired day on Sunday, which will be delivered by our very own volunteer co-ordinator John Saddler, who commented:
“This Sunday at Bede’s World I will enlisting the help of visitors to join the Jarrow on Tyne platoon in guarding Tyneside against the Nazi invader, however I will be advising visitors to watch out though for spies and saboteurs as the platoon keeps watch on the vital Enigma machine. Children joining us will be able to ‘hunt the spy’ and try their hand at drill training as well!”
For further information contact Bede’s World’s Reception on 0191 4892106.  Bede’s World is located just 2 minutes from the South entrance of the Tyne Tunnel. Bede’s World, Church Bank, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear, NE32 3DY.

HAYNES MANUAL - THE REAL MEANINGS :-)

I stumbled across this on another site and thought it would be fun to repost.
Hope you all enjoy Aaron

HAYNES MANUAL - THE REAL MEANINGS

Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise.
Translation: Clamp with molegrips then beat repeatedly with hammer anticlockwise. You do know which way is anticlockwise, don't you?

Haynes: Should remove easily.
Translation: Will be corroded into place ... clamp with adjustable wrench then beat repeatedly with a hammer.

Haynes: Remove small retaining clip.
Translation: Take off 15 years of stubborn crud, it's there somewhere.

Haynes: This is a snug fit.
Translation: You will skin your knuckles! ... Clamp with adjustable wrench then beat repeatedly with hammer.

Haynes: This is a tight fit.
Translation: Not a hope in hell mate! ... Clamp with adjustable wrench then beat repeatedly with hammer.

Haynes: As described in Chapter 7...
Translation: That'll teach you not to read through before you start, now you are looking at scary photos of the inside of a gearbox.

Haynes: Locate ...
Translation: This photo of a hex nut is the only clue we're giving you.

Haynes: Pry...
Translation: Hammer a screwdriver into...

Haynes: Undo...
Translation: Go buy a tin of WD40 (catering size).

Haynes: Ease ...
Translation: Apply superhuman strength to ...

Haynes: Retain tiny spring...
Translation: "Jeez what was that, it nearly had my eye out"!

Haynes: Press and rotate to remove bulb...
Translation: OK - that's the glass bit off, now fetch some good pliers to dig out the bayonet part and remaining glass shards.

Haynes: One spanner rating (simple).
Translation: Your Mum could do this... so how did you manage to botch it up?

Haynes: Two spanner rating.
Translation: Now you may think that you can do this because two is a low, tiny, but you also thought that the wiring diagram was a map of the Tokyo underground (in fact that would have been more use to you).

Haynes: Three spanner rating (intermediate).
Translation: Make sure you won't need your car for a couple of days and that your AA cover includes Home Start.

Haynes: Four spanner rating.
Translation: You are seriously considering this aren't you, you pleb!

Haynes: Five spanner rating (expert).
Translation: OK - but don't expect us to ride it afterwards!!!
Translation #2: Don't ever carry your loved ones in it again and don't mention it to your insurance company.

Haynes: If not, you can fabricate your own special tool like this...
Translation: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Haynes: Carefully...
Translation: You are about to cut yourself!

Haynes: Retaining nut...
Translation: Yes, that's it, that big spherical blob of rust.

Haynes: Get an assistant...
Translation: Prepare to humiliate yourself in front of someone you know.

Haynes: Turning the engine will be easier with the spark plugs removed.
Translation: However, starting the engine afterwards will be much harder. Once that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach has subsided, you can start to feel deeply ashamed as you gingerly refit the spark plugs.

Haynes: Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal.
Translation: But you swear in different places.

Haynes: Prise away plastic locating pegs...
Translation: Snap off...

Haynes: Remove drum retaining pin.
Translation: Break every screwdriver in your box.

Haynes: Using a suitable drift or pin-punch...
Translation: The biggest nail in your tool box isn't a suitable drift!

Haynes: Everyday toolkit
Translation: Ensure you have an RAC Card & Mobile Phone

Haynes: Apply moderate heat...
Translation #1: Heat up until glowing red, if it still doesn't come undone use a hacksaw.
Translation #2: Unless you have a blast furnace, don't bother. Clamp with adjustable wrench then beat repeatedly with hammer.

Haynes: Remove oil filter using an oil filter chain wrench or length of bicycle chain.
Translation: Stick a screwdriver through it and beat handle repeatedly with a hammer.

Car for sale - Herald 12/50 1966 Wedgwood Blue over Gunmetal two tone car.

Herald 12/50 1966 Wedgwood Blue over Gunmetal two tone car.
1250 herald by rougeherald
Car is in standard unmodified condition and very original throughout. It has a good interior and recent new carpets. Mechanically sound with a replacement dynamo and a negative earth conversion (which could easily be put back). Exterior appears to be in original condition and not repainted, so has a few minor dings after 45 years. Door bottoms suffer the usual corrosion and need some attention, as do the edges of the sun
roof, however this is water tight. The car is currently taxed and MoT’d and has been used regularly through the summer. Car passed its MOT yesterday with no advisories, so is valid for a full year.  The road tax is obviously free but won't need renewing for a few months yet.

Chassis is sound and, although having had some limited welding in the past, is fully undersealed. There is a history file containing various receipts and many MoTs to support possible genuine mileage of approximately 88,000 miles. Car is garaged can be viewed at most times.

Price : £1800 Contact : David (contact number in area email) Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
